Dear Madam,
I acknowledge receipt of your mail from 6/27/2008 and I thank you for
sending it.
You are asking about the tests on animals in the elaboration of the
Guerlain products.
The Guerlain approach on the Safety of Cosmetic Products and Animal Testing
is based on two demands:
An absolute demand : consumer' safety. Indeed, Everything must be done
during the conception, development and manufacturing of a cosmetic product,
to guarantee the consumer safety.
A moral demand : respect of animal life.
This double demand, consumer safety and respect of animal life, has
encouraged our laboratories to carry on research projects with universities
and to participate in the development and validation of alternative methods
to animal testing.
At this date, Guerlain has made public its decision not to use animals in
the testing of products to be put on the market.
Thank you for your interest in our brand.
Yours faithfully,
Isabelle ROUSSEAU

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to find out if your company:
- Directly tests the product or ingredients on animals
- Contracts with laboratories to do animal testing
- Is a member of a business organization which allows animal testing
- Has brands/factories which do not do animal testing, but are tested on
animals at the company headquarters.
I would like to know if it would be appropriate to recommend Guerlain's
products for vegans.
Thank you.
